Time for faith
The thing I love about mixed media is: anything goes, it is just pouring your thoughts and emotions onto a page or canvass or anything that will stay still long enough to paint it!
I used several techniques on this project. To start I stamped with black Archival Ink on tissue paper. After ink was dry, I tore it randomly. I coated my page with Mod Podge and crinkled the stamped tissue all over to form the background.
Once background is dry, then the fun of layering different textures begins. I used mesh and the Crafter's Workshop Clock template, smeared modeling paste into it. Spayed "smooch" in green, glimmer mist in purple and green, threw in a little wire mesh, a key, a flur de les metal sticker, and "faith" painted black.
The die cut butterfly is canvass and I sprayed it to, add a bead for it's body and wire for the antennas.
The bouquet of paper flowers are accented with glimmer mist and rhinestones, sticks from the yard, tulle heated to melt a little, and fibers.
To finish off the project rhinestones were added to the bottom corner, painted the 5 & 7, outlined the whole project with black paint. Added some doodles, circles, and some metallic rub-on paste.
Let's get away!
Wishful Window
I love the thought of getting away to the shore, any shore!!
I used the window card from AccuCut and white card stock. For a little texture, I used molding past on the frame, which reminds me of my childhood home. The inside picture is from a travel magazine. I used a Stampin' Up dotted stamp for the background with blue ink, and distressed the edges with the same. The blocks on the front are die cuts from AccuCut, the deckle edged square 1 1/4", and the dark blue is the square 1 1/2", brushed with gold paint on the edges. To make the curtain rod, I used 2 "hat pins" taped together, punched tiny holes (with a push pin) to allow me to make a bracket from wire. The tie-backs are silver brads. I wrapped tulle around the "curtain rod" like mine at home, and tied the curtain with embroidery floss...now, I think I will head to the shore.
Peacock Obsession!
Peacock obsession!
I used the "Pebbles Card Tag" from AccuCut to begin with. Cut white cardstock so it would take distressing easily, then started applying greens and blue inks for the background, next I stamped black scrolls on the top and used textured paper for the bird. The peacock is a die cut from Sizzixs, cut from ivory cardstock for the body, and blue & green for the tail. I used metallic rub-ons from Bazzill to shade the bird, and add accents to the "eyes" of the tail, then I applied the rhinestone stickers.
Yes that is a stick out of the back yard, but I didn't want the bird to be floating on the card!
I found the saying in a stash of left-over supplies (sorry, I can't remember who I got it from), ran ink around the edge, filled in some lettering with Tim Holtz distressing markers and blended with a water pen. The feather is made by GOD and I used tacky glue to hold it on the tag.
I also added beads to ribbon and tied those on for added interest.
All dressed up card!
All dressed up!
Wouldn't this be a great sweet 16 birthday card?
I love the dress die cut from AccuCut, there are so many ways to use it. This one is cut from the double sided Wild Asparagus (MME) floral, cut twice. I used the back side of the paper for the insets in the skirt. But what is a dressy dress without a petticoat? I added tulle to the underside, then heated with my heat-gun to curl it.
Add distressed ribbon to waist, add white trim to top (I inked mine), paint the hanger with Ranger's metallic paint, string your pearls and place it on a really cool background, and you will make some girlie-girl very happy. I know I would LOVE to get a card like this myself.
Other materials used: Embossing folder with clocks, bazzill card stock for card and layering, and you guessed it...water.
Mixed Media Handmade Card
Butterflies & Chandeliers
Two of my favorite things, add bling and I'm in heaven!
A piece of glossy paper is used for the background, using alcohol ink in purple, turquoise, and blue. Using the Tim Holtz blending tool to apply as desired.
I added distressing to the edges with a sponge and black ink. Added sticker bling, stamps, and a die cut doily for added texture and interest.
